Project: NASDAQ Tower Animation
Once again, Positive 6 was called on to create a looping animation to be played on the NASDAQ tower for the opening bell at the start of trading. We had just finished redesigning and launching Genoptix’ website the month prior. For their homepage, we created a striking visual with 3D rendered and animated blood cells. It just made sense to use those on the tower in Times Square, too.
Having worked with NASDAQ MarketSite before, we understood that creating a video for the tower presented different challenges and opportunities than designing for a standard television. One of the obstacles to contend with is the placement of 25 windows in the middle of the cylindrical monitor. The monitor is after all the outside of a building.
Most companies just run their video straight through and hope for the best – often obscuring their logo or other important details of the piece. We decided to embrace these obstacles and designed the cells to actually “bounce off” the physical windows of the tower. How cool is that?!
