Client: Qualcomm
Project: Wireless Reach - RP-7 Robot
Shot on location at the University of Miami’s Ryder Trauma Center, this video illustrates yet another incredible project of Qualcomm’s Wireless Reach initiative.
Imagine hanging out on the roof of a building with military and civilian trauma doctors waiting for a helicopter to land with a patient recently involved in a horrible motorcycle crash. You run out to the helipad, camera in hand to film the action. You follow the doctors and patient into the building and down the elevator. When the elevator doors open, the doctors are greeted by a robot being controlled by a head injury specialist 3,000 miles away.
He’s there to help and with the use of Qualcomm’s wireless broadband technologies, he navigates the nimble robot down the halls and into the trauma room. With cameras, the remote doctor is able to see in clear definition the severity of the wounds. He’s able to give advice and offer critical expertise to surgeons in the room, he's helped to save a life.
You’ve just experienced the future of telemedicine – and it’s happening right now.
